The Association of Dogs and Cats Homes
North Shore Animal League International is one of the Executive Members of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes and has supported and helped the Association in a variety of ways.
The Association of Dogs and Cats Homes was founded in 1985, in order to bring together dog and cat welfare organizations and aid communication between like-minded charities. Since its birth, it has grown immensely and now has four very productive meetings a year and arranges conferences for its delegates and staff. There are now 51 members of the Association with new applications coming in all the time. The members comprise charities of all sizes situated throughout England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the Channel Islands.
The purpose of the Association is to:
- Develop good practice and influence others working in the rescue and/or rehoming of dogs and cats.
- Address common problems and issues.
- Exchange information internally and provide mutual support.
- Combine resources to encourage Governments to introduce workable, pet welfare legislation.
- Exchange knowledge and experience in the building of new centres.
- Achieve best value for money from suppliers.
